Services provided by Restoring Hope Counseling

Working with couples

At Restoring Hope, we believe that the best scenario for healing is in the context of a relationship. We specialize in working with couples who are experiencing seemingly hopeless challenges. We will work with you to restore the relationship - some even find it better than ever!

Working with only one partner in a couple

We can help you turn your relationship around even if you partner is not willing to come in. At Restoring Hope, we believe that one partner alone can change the relationship. It is better for one person to come in and start working on improving the relationship than no one at all. We can work with you to provide the support and strategies that are shown to heal many couple relationships.

Working with individuals

There are some issues for which people prefer to see a counselor alone. We welcome the opportunity to work with you to help you get unstuck and begin living the life you had hoped. We consider it a privilege to be allowed to hear your story and work with you to bring about the healing and restoration of your heart.

How we approach therapy

At Restoring Hope Counseling, we combine cognitive behavioral therapy and issue specific treatments to help you move forward in your life. Because you are unique, you deserve a therapist who will listen to you and tailor treatment to your needs. We utilize a range of counseling styles (from reflective to directive) and we work with these three major factors:

Social: The social aspect of life entails our family, friends, coworkers, etc. and the effect we have on each other. We find that the relational systems we are in have a huge impact on how we experience life. Those systems can be as big as "society at large" or as small as "you and your mother."

Spiritual: Many clients have spiritual beliefs that they find important and helpful in times of difficulty. We can incorporate spiritual beliefs and practices into our conversation. We see this as cooperating with God. God doesn't do it all for us, God works with us. A garden is an apt metaphor, we plant the seeds of change, God causes the growth.

Biological: This can entail such things as the food we eat (i.e. the sugar buzz and crash), the sleep we get (not enough or too much) or the medication we take (i.e. antidepressants or side effects of other medications). Please note, we do not prescribe or recommend medications or supplements, we suggest you get guidance from a qualified professional.
