Insurance

We do not accept insurance and require payment for sessions at the beginning of our time together. If you choose to go through insurance and do not want to use fee-for-service, we would be happy to recommend an alternative therapist to you. We want to make sure you are happy with the services that you receive.

 

 

Fee-for-Service Advantages

 

At Restoring Hope Counseling, we do not accept insurance as payment for a couple reasons. First the insurance company will be reviewing our files regarding your case. This is a little unsettling as the files leave our possession and may be seen by staff at the insurance company. Also there is often a directive set by the insurance company as to how many sessions we can have and what therapeutic modalities we need to work by. They can choose to stop paying for sessions for any number of reasons.

 

Another reason we do not take insurance is the requirement to make a mental health disorder diagnosis. This diagnosis may become a part of your permanent health record. Where this becomes problematic is if you ever try to get health insurance in the future, this could be a reason for denial of your application. According to an article on health insurance application challenges from the Minneapolis StarTribune on January 11, 2009

 

"In Minnesota, the most common reasons for denial are obesity,

 mental health conditions, hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular

 disease." 

 

At Restoring Hope Counseling, our clients are not subjected to these risks.

Sliding Fee

We do not want cost to stand in the way of getting services. We have a sliding fee scale that is based on your income. Sliding fee clients are seen before 4:00 PM.  We can discuss this option during your first session or free 30-minute consultation. 

 

 

Credit Cards Accepted

 

Although cash is the easiest method of payment, we accept checks and are able to take credit cards through PayPal via the link below. We do not have the capacity to accept credit cards on-site so coordinate this with your therapist if you wish to use a credit card or PayPal. Please discuss this option with us prior to using it as a form of payment.
